The Abrams Brothers are John and James Abrams. They proudly play bluegrass and bluegrass gospel music and demonstrate a talent for singing, playing and composing that inspires people whenever they perform. They are regularly joined by their father Brian and Grand-father Wayne to offer three generations of musical talent on one stage. Special friends from Clarendon Station frequently join them to round out an already impressive sound. Fourth-generation musicians with musical roots reaching back to their great-grandparents, The Abrams Brothers grew up playing music in an atmosphere where generation-spanning family musical collaborations are practically tradition. Comprised of John (vocals, guitar), 18, James (vocals, fiddle), 16, and cousin Elijah (bass), 18, this young, Ontario-based Americana/Bluegrass band pairs a rich musical background with a youthful exuberance. Live performance veterans dating back to the ages of 11 and 9, The Abrams Brothers show is augmented by banjo and drums. Though young, the band has already racked up some impressive credits, including being the youngest Canadians to appear on Nashville’s iconic Grand Ole Opry in 2005. The Abrams Brothers has performed overseas, touring Europe in 2006 and playing the European World of Bluegrass Festival, as well as performing at the 2007 and 2008 Jacob’s Ladder Folk Festival in Israel. In 2005, the group was named Emerging Artist of the Year at the Canadian Bluegrass Music Awards, and in 2006, it received the Daniel Pearl Memorial violin, given to especially gifted young musicians. The band has been featured in publications like Bluegrass Unlimited, Bluegrass Now and Maverick Magazine and has appeared on CBC Radio, PBS Virginia and CKWS Television. In 2008 The Abrams Brothers recorded, Blue on Brown, a tribute to folk legends Bob Dylan and Arlo Guthrie. The album of bluegrass and gospel covers features an all-star cast of Canadian artists such as Bruce Cockburn and Amy Milan (Broken Social Scene) and demonstrates the groups deft musicianship as they keep up with Dylan and Guthrie’s fast rhythms and intricate guitar finger-work. They even got the nod of approval from Arlo Guthrie himself when the man heard them playing his songs and said, “these guys are way too young to be that good.” The Abrams Brothers were recently featured on the Canadian national TV show CBC “The National” and also appeared on the renowned radio show Acoustic Café. Aaron Holt has made his way in and around the world of music via a route not unlike many of his peers, finding not only a knowledge and appreciation of music itself but also the highways (and even flyways) a young man must travel to play, promote, support and of course write his stories in song. Today he stands out as an ambitious and well-traveled writer, an accomplished, versatile, and entertaining presence on stageand in the studio. Since departing his childhood home in West Virginia for Nashville, Holt has toured nationally (and even internationally) as a drummer, guitarist, and backup singer for several Nashville acts. His own shows have taken him up and down the road throughout Texas and the southeast … he has been featured on radio stations across Texas, opened for the likes of Cory Morrow, Reckless Kelly, Ray Wylie Hubbard, and Chris Knight, and appeared on compilation CDs alongside some of the genre’s biggest stars. For around five years Holt settled in the Brazos Valley area. Holt toured Texas towns and venues both big and small from the panhandle to the gulf coast as well as Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, West Virginia and Tennessee. He released his debut CD ”JURISDICTION” on Stormy Weather Records (a small imprint co-owned by Holt and Stormy Cooper). During a long running gig as the host of a songwriter showcase in Bryan, Texas Aaron had many guests including Chris Knight, Slade Cleaves, Adam Carroll, Max Stalling, Phil Pritchett, and the John Evans Band. He was also able to break through into several radio markets with singles from his record including Bake, Stay Here Awhile, and Got Somewhere To Go. Holt has also made his production debut on his friend and co-writer’s first record, Mike Ethan Messick’s “Bootlegger’s Turn”. Aaron made his way back to nashville in the summer of 06 to write and produce and work as much as humanly possible in the music buisness. He is currently working on a new cd project that hopes to be ready for download and purchase soon. Holt is also the drummer and band leader for Blue steel recording artist Anna Garrott. With much accomplished and much left to do, Holt is a busy man, playing gigs full time as well as raising children with his high school sweetheart angela, and more than likely coming to a venue near you soon. Adam Steffey grew up playing mandolin in the Tri-Cities region of East Tennessee. He was first introduced to bluegrass music by his maternal grandfather, Fred Carter, who would take Adam to the Carter Fold in Hiltons,VA. There he became interested in the music and was especially intrigued by the sound of the mandolin. Dempsey Young, who was with the great band The Lost and Found, was the first player to really spark the desire to get ahold of a mandolin. After taking lessons in Kingsport,TN for a year or so, Adam began playing with various local bands such as The Boys in the Band, Bluegrass Edition, and Dusty Miller. It was during this time that he began to play with such musicians as Tim Stafford, Barry Bales, James Alan Shelton, and others who would go on to play professionally. Adam’s first full time playing position was with The Lonesome River Band in1987. He was a member of this group for a year before helping to form Dusty Miller. While playing with Dusty Miller he became aquainted with a young Alison Krauss, with whom he worked for the next seven and a half years. In 1998 Adam left Alison Krauss and Union Station, and a few months later began playing with the bluegrass/gospel group The Isaacs, where he would make his musical home for the next three years. In mid-2001, bluegrass group Mountain Heart called upon Adam to fill the vacant mandolin position and he was a part of their band for the next six and a half years. But it was during his years with Alison Krauss and Union Station that Adam became good friends with Dan Tyminski, thus leading to his current slot as mandolin player for the Dan Tyminski Band. Adam is also an in-demand session player and has recorded with numerous artists from various genres. He has received the mandolin player of the year award five times from the International Bluegrass Music Association, and is a Grammy award winner.

Active since 2000, he has recorded four studio albums, including 2000′s The Way I’m Made and 2002′s Workin’ On It, both on Epic Records, as well as a self-titled album in 2006 on Mensa Records.
